About this Project

Fort Campbell’s UEPH Barracks are two four-story, opposed facing, buildings housing 264 living units (each unit can house 2 soldiers) and are interconnected by a courtyard and walk paths to the sport fields (basketball court, softball fields & multipurpose field) and parking. Courtyard areas have covered pavilions for grilling and eating. A horseshoe pit and volleyball court are also located within the courtyard. Laundries and common areas are located on each floor as well as a main gathering area on the 1st floor of each building. Each living unit has a private bathroom, individual sleeping room, individual closet and a kitchen. Geothermal water source heat pumps are provided for each suite and provide the HVAC within the space along with a small amount of constant air provided from two 4th floor dedicated outside air units per building. The mechanical water serving the heat pumps is a closed loop, single pipe geothermal system with a dedicated boiler and cooling tower for necessary temperature adjustments to the water throughout the year. Some special and/or unique qualities of this project are that the project was a design assist and allowed for us to input ideas into the formulation of mechanical and plumbing systems. The project had stringent requirements for mechanical and plumbing systems due to being located in a seismic zone, having to meet the Buy American Act for material purchases & also having been designed to meet the Anti-Terrorism Force Protection requirements.
