Description
This 400,000 sq ft expansion to the existing hospital included 22 new operating rooms, a pediatric emergency room, an additional emergency room and new PACU and ICU rooms. In addition, 60 new patient rooms are found on the 4th and 5th floors. The new central energy plant features four 1500 ton chillers, an eight cell cooling tower arrangement, 9000 gpm variable speed chilled water plumbing package and a new fuel system for the emergency generators. The new energy plant addition also took over the chilled water demands of the existing facility through a series of tie-ins done in the crawl space of the existing hospital.
Some of the highlights of the hospital expansion included a new emergency water storage tank, 14 gas fired water heaters, 56 patient care modules, over 19 miles of medical gas, domestic water, chilled and heating water piping throughout the facility.
